Sibiloi national park is known for its abundant wildlife and famous fossil sites that provide a powerful incentive to go further north.  The park was created to protect the sites of numerous remarkable fossil finds that have been made since 1968 by Richard Leakey’s and latterly Kamoya kimeu’s , teams from the University of Nairobi.  The park,  more than 1600 square kilometer of rock desert and arid bush, is an exceptional source because many of the fossils are found on the surface, blown clean by the never –ending wind. The finds set back the dates of intelligent, cooperative tool-making behavior among hominids further and further all the time.
